Matures in about 68 days from transplant. In the category of "snowball-type" cauliflower varieties, 'Snowball Self-Blanching' has large wrapper leaves that curl inwards in the cool fall weather. This trait serves to help cover and protect the head and to help keep it blanched pure white in color. Because of this trait, 'Snowball Self-Blanching' does not require tying until heads are six to eight inches across, and that is only if you are a commercial producer. The flavor is mild and tasty both raw and cooked.

Cauliflower, Self-Blanching
Plant 18-24 inches apart. They like soil loaded with organic matter a pH of about 6.5. Avoid providing too much nitrogen. Use insect controls as you would for other cole (Brassica family) plants in your area. Protect the plants from pests with row covers or organic pesticides. Fertilize the plants during the growing season, especially with nitrogen-rich compost or organic fertilizer.

Seedlings are available for local pick up and drop sites (additional drop site fee) near Clear Lake, MN. Pick up dates are variable based on frost dates but will be on average mid-May. Payment is due before pick up, which will be arranged once planting time gets closer.
